Farnam Jahanian Elected to National Academy of Engineering’s 2026 Class

IFIP Working Group 10.4 is pleased to congratulate Dr. Farnam Jahanian on his election to the National Academy of Engineering’s 2026 class.

Dr. Jahanian, currently President of Carnegie Mellon University, was recognized for his contributions to distributed computing, network security, and network protocols: areas fundamental to dependable computing systems. A celebrated scholar with over 100 published research papers, he is a Fellow of the ACM, IEEE, and AAAS. He is a member and past vice-chair of the IFIP WG 10.4.

Dr. Jahanian earned his Ph.D. in computer science from The University of Texas at Austin and holds faculty appointments in CMU’s School of Computer Science, College of Engineering, and Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy.

The NAE will formally induct the Class of 2026 at its Annual Meeting in October.
